BROOKLYN BRIDAL WAS BORN OVER A GLASS OF RED
AND A MIDLANDS CURRY WITH MY DAD…
We were catching up- reminiscing about all of the little details of my wedding day. Which had blown us all away!
My fiancé and I had planned a bohemian celebration of love and life in Ibiza- we wanted colour and a super fun vibe. Shopping around online and on my travels for wedding decoration was relatively unrewarding- too much paper and not enough class. So I decided to take things into my own hands. (Easily done when your day job is running a lingerie trim design business!)
I started with the wedding cake- everyone had flowers, I fancied ribbons, not just your standard high street selection but unique, hand loomed, one-off ribbons that would be the icing on the cake, and then giant sheer Pom poms to suspend in the trees alongside star lanterns and then a huge ribbon wall- as a backdrop for our photographs. It was like a Willy Wonka landscape in my head! I remember my friend popping round one evening for tea, I was sat inside a sea of vases- small Morrocan tea cups, extravagant Heals coloured glass, simple Nkuku antique tealights… I was trying to create the perfect mish mash of style and colour. She looked at me like I was completely bonkers! More and more hand-made details came into play, plus items that I just couldn’t source easily in the UK. I wanted the day to be unique and for our guests, some of whom were travelling a really long way, to leave with meaningful, little reminders.
It was a joy to play at- simple girly fun with lovely results. And the day came together splendidly, thanks to Ibiza veteran Fiona Frith.
Guests loved the little details and so did we. Friends still carry the personalised totes, our confetti bags double as jewellery holders and the bamboo parasols were a stand out favourite!
I started receiving mail requests for bridal accessories- people wanted to create a chic, eclectic look and they wanted to piece it all together themselves. So Brooklyn Bridal was born out of a history and love of textiles and hand made items. We really believe that weddings should be easier! Every bride should have access to beautiful, bespoke details to accentuate their wedding day palette.
We love our products and hope that you do too!
